Shruti Biswajit is a multidisciplinary artist based in Chennai, working across painting, sculpture, furniture, and objects.

 

A large part of her practice has evolved through BISKIT, the fashion, art, and design studio she co-founded with her brother Harsha, where she continues to lead the creative direction. What began as a shared space between art and fashion became a way of exploring how art can inform design, continuing to shape the way she approaches material, form, and storytelling. Alongside BISKIT, she continues to expand her independent practice across different mediums and contexts.

Conceptually, she’s drawn to the idea that non-living forms might still carry energy, memory, humour or presence — that objects, like people, are made up of vibrating particles, just moving at different frequencies. Her work circles around a simple thought: why do I want all these things to be alive?

​

Over time, this curiosity has evolved into a visual language of organic forms, curves, and voids, exploring positive and negative space throughout her work. Her paintings, sculptures, and objects often exist in strange imagined worlds where objects live human lives and creatures feel like extensions of the self. There’s usually humour somewhere in the middle of it all.

Her work with BISKIT has been featured in publications including Vogue, Highsnobiety, Grazia, and Architectural Digest, and exhibited internationally in Milan, Berlin, and Mumbai, including presentations at Lakmé Fashion Week. A recent project, Biskit Universe - a brutalist-inspired digital museum developed in collaboration with the tech collective Imersive - extends this practice into the digital realm.

She also co-founded the fashion brand Solar Spirit, and has co-founded Redirecting Studio and Good Energy Goods, where she develops visual concepts and brand identities across mediums.

She holds a BFA in International Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, and has studied at Politecnico di Milano.
